AWEBSA EXHIBITS AT THE HILLFOX BIRD EXPO
The first weekend in November saw AWEBSA participating in an exotic bird expo at the Hillfox Centre put on by the Rand Avicultural Society.
This was the first exhibition that we have participated in as a young, vibrant and growing organization and it went of very well indeed. Pre EXPO, and with very little time to prepare, we relied heavily upon the Gauteng membership to organize and make us look as professional as we are.
Rynier was sterling in sourcing a company to make banners, as well as finding someone to print our pamphlets. He also made sure that all hands helping over the two days had personalized AWEBSA T-shirts and there were caps made up with the AWEBSA logo stitched on for new members that signed up to the association over that time.
Philip printed membership forms for new members to fill in and prospective members to take away with them. He also sorted out a float and paid the EXPO exhibition fee on behalf of the club.
We received generous sponsorship from our members and PMBBC (Pietermaritzburg Budgerigar Club) one of our member clubs. Without their monetary contribution participation in the exhibition would have been somewhat hampered. We salute you all!
Show birds came from local aviaries showing an abundance of colour and RBA Aviaries had a cage of ‘normals’ on display too to show off the difference in size between the two types of budgie.
Both days had Splendid Budgie Club members spending their time showing the birds and answering the many interesting questions received from the public. Even though the weather wasn’t great, with many attempts at rain, it did not put a damper on the spirit of visitors to the EXPO nor the members who were helping.
As a ‘first’ for us we learned that teamwork and enthusiasm go a long way to producing a quality show and AWEBSA members can be proud of a magnificent effort by all who participated and helped pull off a brilliant 2 days. Here’s to the next one…..
